Golden Poppy Information
Morning ArrivalFor the health and safety of the students, please schedule their leaving home so as to arrive at school no earlier than 30 minutes before the starting time. Currently start time at Golden Poppy is 7:53 a.m. This will enable the supervising staff to be prepared to receive them and prevent over-exposure to severe weather conditions.Students should be in their seats and prepared to begin the school day at 7:53 a.m. Breakfast is not part of the academic school day.Student Dismissal During School HoursStudents dismissed during school hours must be signed out in the office by the person checking the student out of school. Students can only be released to the parent(s) or to the persons indicated on the student’s emergency card. There will be NO over the phone releases unless approved by the administrative staff. In an emergency situation, when a parent needs a student released to someone other than the persons indicated on the emergency card, the parent must do the following: Send a written request, signed by the requesting parent, with the person who will be responsible for picking up the student. Provide the name and description of the person you authorize to pick up your son or daughter (the authorized person must show proper identification). The request needs to be signed by the parent who registered the student for verification purposes. Failure to follow these steps will result in the student being released at the end of the school day in accordance with the normal dismissal procedures.
Any student dismissal that leaves the student’s welfare in question shall be handled at the discretion of the site administrator or designee. Should any such situation become a disruption to the school, the sheriff’s office will be contacted and an officer will be requested to intervene. We respectfully request that parents make every attempt NOT to involve school sites in custody matters.
Dismissal Students are dismissed at 1:45 p.m. Parents or authorized personnel, who will be picking the students up, are requested to wait outside the school gates until the bell for dismissal rings. Please use extreme caution when driving a vehicle around the school at this time. If a student must leave campus prior to dismissal, parents are asked to come in to the office. The office will then contact the child. No students are permitted early dismissal between the hours 1:30 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. due to office traffic. Parents who attempt to pick up their children during this time will be asked to wait until dismissal. Please do not call the office and ask that your child be called from class so that he or she is available in the office when you arrive. This practice takes valuable learning time away from your child. Requests of this nature will not be honored. Students will be called from class when the parent arrives at the school site.
Pedestrian Traffic We have a high concentration of traffic near our school and in our parking lots. Student safety is an important concern; therefore all students must obey all traffic laws and the directives of our crossing guards. The use of sidewalks and cross walks is mandatory. Students found not using crosswalks will be talked to. School punishment may be given, and the police may be contacted.
Parking Please drop off or pick-up students in the designated loading areas only. Child safety is of the utmost concern at our school. Please obey and follow the directions of the parking lot staff and the crossing guards. Please do not park in handicapped spaces or loading zones. Never leave your car in these areas while running in to pick-up your student. Never drive your car onto the section of campus that is within school gates.Last Modified on December 12, 2012
