FROM THE DESK OF THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
I am Dr. Beverley Martin and I’m extremely excited to be your Assistant Principal for the 2016-2017 school year. This is my 16th year in education and 4th year as an Assistant Principal. I have taught all grades K-6, have served in the capacity of Learning Support Teacher, Administrative Intern and now Assistant Principal. My educational background includes a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Fresno State University, a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Bakersfield University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Medgar Evers College. Education is near and dear to my heart as I grew up in a home where both my parents were educators as well as my five older siblings.
I believe in and fully support Dual Immersion Programs as two Languages are certainly better than one and three of my four children attended Los Amigos and are fluent in Spanish. Dual Language programs instill an appreciation for cultural diversity, and challenges students to develop communicative and academic skills in a second language. In addition; it’s a wonderful program that provides a unique opportunity for students to speak, read and write in Spanish.
I strongly believe that students benefit the most when parents, teachers, staff and administrators work together to provide meaningful learning and rich experiences in and outside of school. As a parent, I understand the challenges that come with raising a family and it’s my goal to work with our Principal, Dr. Batista, to ensure a safe and nurturing environment conducive to learning and growth. I look forward to meeting our entire school community as the year progress.
