From the Desk of the Assistant Principal:
Hello students, parents, family, and friends. My name is Cindy Queen and I am the new Assistant Principal at Barrel Springs Elementary School. I would like to take this opportunity to share with you a little bit about myself. I was born in Bogotá, Colombia, but immigrated to the United States at the age of 16. My first language is Spanish and with hard work, dedication, and lots of practice, I was able to acquire English as my second language. I have been married for 24 years to a wonderful man and we have four children together.
After graduating from Chatsworth High School, I attended California State University, Northridge where I obtained my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies with a concentration in English in 2001. I received a Teaching Credential from California State University, Bakersfield in 2003, and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration again from California State University, Northridge in 2007.
My professional teaching endeavors in the education field began when I started teaching in 2002. I consider my professional experience in education to be well rounded. I have served in different capacities within different school districts. I have rendered service as a teacher in various grade levels and have also served as support staff, as a Master Teacher. For the past two years I have been serving as an Assistant Principal at Manzanita Elementary also a part of the Palmdale School District.
It is my top priority to provide students with a safe and effective learning environment, full of rich experiences. I am eager to get to know all of our wonderful students and families this year. Please stop by and introduce yourself. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Let's have an amazing 2016-17 school year! I'm proud to be a Bulldog!
