Making an impression

3-sport athlete has sports in the genes

As a teacher, you see many students come and go throughout the years. Some make an impression. Joel “Joey” Diaz Dominguez truly has made an impact.

From his charismatic easy going personality to his dedication and effort, Joey leaves nothing on the court, field, track or classroom. Joey is a hard worker, hustles at everything he does, and seems to have a never-ending amount of energy. A real life energizer bunny.

Coming from a family of athletes, Joey’s brother-in-law represented the USA in the Olympic for the men’s volleyball team. Joey’s brother played professional soccer for several teams, including Atlas  and Chivas. His brother currently plays for forward for Madison FC.

Joey has donned the SAGE uniform for volleyball, soccer and track.. Last May, Joey helped SAGE win the sixth/seventh- grade PSD Track Championship. Joey is a wizard on the volleyball court, often making plays that leave his teammates gasping and the crowd cheering.

When asked about his fondest memories playing for SAGE, Joey responded with memories of being with his teammates. Joey’s response highlights possibly his greatest attribute, his understanding of what it means to be a team player and his willingness to help others on and off the court.

A model citizen, I can’t wait to see what the future awaits for Joel Diaz Dominguez.
