School Nurses strengthen and facilitate the educational process by improving
and protecting the health status of children, and reducing barriers to learning through:
 
Hearing, vision, dental, scoliosis, and general health screening, assessment and referral Medication administration and training
Medical case management and community resource referral for students and families Emergency care and first aid
Transition-to-school services for medically-involved students Child Abuse mandated reporter and prevention training
Immunization screening, vaccination, and follow-up Health education and counseling for students, parents, staff and community members
Maintenance of student health records Special Education EIS nursing services
Developing Individualized Health & Support Plans for students with special needs Staff CPR / First Aid Training
Specialized Physical Healthcare Services / Procedures for students with special needs Attendance mitigation and SARB / DARB intervention
Healthy Start School-based community vaccination clinics Student Study Team intervention for academic, health-related, attendance, emotional, behavioral, and substance abuse concerns
Communicable disease management Crisis Response Planning and Intervention
