Volunteer Requirements

Volunteers play a valuable role in the Palmdale School District Early Childhood Education (ECE) Program. They bring a different set of abilities, a unique perspective, and diverse experiences to the classroom. Volunteering can help parents gain involvement in their child’s education. ECE staff truly appreciates all the time and unique skills volunteers provide that help enrich the program's quality. Your volunteer time also plays an important role in helping us reach our Non-federal share recruitment for Head Start. Each year, we must collect $3.4 million in volunteer time and donations. We can only reach that goal with your help!

Palmdale School District Early Childhood Education Volunteers are required by state law (SB792) to be immunized against influenza, pertussis (whooping cough), and measles. California Code of Regulations (CCR) Title 22, Section 101216. All parents who want to volunteer in an Early Childhood Education classroom must have the appropriate immunizations, which are MMR, TDaP, and Flu/Influenza. They must also have a TB Skin Test or Chest X-Ray. See the ECE Volunteers Health Certification form.
