QUESTION:

I don't see on the RFQ that you will consider other options (in addition to HPE/Aruba).  If you are, I will work with Extreme Networks and my solutions engineers to come up with a competitive proposal.

ANSWER:

(This would be on the bottom of page 8 of the RFQ)

The district is willing to accept bids from alternative manufacturers as long as they meet or exceed the current district standard. Please see the section “Trade Names and Alternatives” in this RFQ for further information.

 QUESTION:

Is MACsec a required feature to run on your network?

 ANSWER:

It is included as an example of meet or exceeds.

 QUESTION:

Is routing to the core switches required? If so, what routing protocol are you running today?

 ANSWER:

 Routing is the core.

 QUESTION:

What will the proposed 40G ports be connecting to?

 ANSWER:

 Interconnectivity between switches

 QUESTION:

Do you expect to see growth in 40G port utilization over the next 3-5 years?

 ANSWER:

 As always, growth is expected.

QUESTION:

Are you using Multi-gig technology at the access layer today? If not, is there a need or initiative to deploy Multi-gig technology?

ANSWER:

The access layer is not included in this scope.

QUESTION:

Has the district standardized on an access layer switch? What is the model of that access layer switching?

ANSWER:

This is not included in this scope.

 QUESTION:

The RFP mentions “optional services”.  Please clarify what is intended. Will this include these items or not:

  • Physical install of the switch into the rack?
  • Setup of switches to replace existing?
  • If yes for setup:
    • What attributes will be configured?
    • Copy/edit or utilize existing config?
    • Enhance config with additional features (VOIP, VLANs, QoS, routing)?
  • Other services intended?

ANSWER:

Optional services are what you as a company may see that is needed, they can include the items such as what you have previously listed above. This should be an option, not part of the base quote.
