Special Education
WELCOME
Thank you for choosing or considering Palmdale School District to serve you and your family. Our Special Education Department is proud of the extensive services we offer our community from pre-kindergarten through the eighth grade. We provide Early Intervention services through our infant toddler programs (within this program all services, except vision and orthopedic services, are afforded). Additionally, we provide the following services: adapted physical education, speech and language, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and educationally related intensive counseling. We regard service to our students with disabilities as an integral component of Palmdale School District’s strategic plan – The Palmdale PROMISE –
This is why the Special Education Department is committed to providing a free, appropriate public education for all students in the least restrictive environment. Placement and services for students receiving special education services are assigned in accordance with that student’s needs. A continuum of program options is available, with services provided in a variety of educational settings, which are required by the Individuals with Disability Education Act (IDEA).
