Assistant Superintendent of Student Services/Special Education

Dr. Donna Campbell has been a member of the Antelope Valley community since 1990.  She was named the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services/Special Education for Palmdale School District in July of 2019, after serving as the Principal at Shadow Hills Magnet Academy.  She is also an Adjunct Professor at National University, and California State University, Bakersfield, within the Graduate School of Education.

 

Dr. Campbell has presented at various conferences - California Association of African American Superintendents and Administrators (CAAASA), California Association for Bilingual Education (CABE), and the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA), and stays active in the community.  In 2017, she was School Site Leader of the Year, and has been nominated as Co-Administrator of the Year by the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) Region 15, received Community Leadership Awards from the High Desert Alliance of Black School Educators, and recognized by the cities of Palmdale and Lancaster for participation in various mentoring programs.

 

Born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, Dr. Campbell graduated from St. Andrew High School for Girls, and after immigrating to the United States, she earned an Associate of Arts degree from Santa Monica College, and her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from California State University, Bakersfield.  Dr. Campbell earned a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from California State University, Northridge, where her research focused on parent involvement, home and school collaboration, exploring cultural relationships, and issues of trust in education.

 

Dr. Campbell has been married to her husband Anthony, for 40 years, and has two children; Kischa-Simone, and Anthony Jr.  She thoroughly enjoys spending time with her grandson Elijah, and engaging in Spartan/bootcamp hijinks and antics.
