School Principal

Mr. Gatlin proudly serves as Principal of Oak Tree Community Day School.  Before his assignment at Oak Tree, he served one year as an Assistant Principal at Shadow Hills Engineering & Design Magnet Academy, three years as an Assistant Principal at David G. Millen Law & Government Academy and he served his last year as David G. Millen’s Principal.  
 
Before entering into the realm of administration, Mr. Gatlin was a proud Physical Education teacher for 19 years. He served four years at Roosevelt Middle School in Compton CA. and 15 years at Juniper Intermediate School for the Palmdale School District. Mr. Gatlin also coached basketball, baseball, track, and high school football.
 
Mr. Gatlin had the pleasure of working as a probation officer with at-risk youth in the County of Los Angeles Juvenile Hall System. This experience provided him a unique and well-rounded perspective on the juvenile system and the uneven playing field of under-educated and misguided youth.
 
Mr. Gatlin currently holds a Master of Arts Degree in Education from Pepperdine University, as well as his Clear Administrative Credential from Brandman University. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Nevada Reno, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education and Speech Communication.
 
Mr. Gatlin was also a four-year letterman for the University of Nevada. He played the position of quarterback, which afforded him the pleasure of being inducted into the Wolf Pack Hall of Fame with his 1990 National Championship Team. He also played professional football in the CFL (Canadian Football League) and Europe.
 
During his free time, he teaches “Independent Living Skills” to his students and plays competitive tournament golf during golf season.
