Assistant Principal

Hello! My name is Girum Jiru, and I am the assistant principal for David G. Millen magnet school. It is with great enthusiasm and excitement that I  joined PSD recently.

 

My education includes a degree in engineering, a couple of graduate degrees in educational technology, and school administration from CSU, Northridge, and currently, I am a doctoral candidate at GCU. In addition, I hold a clear single subject Math teaching credential, computer literacy supplemental credential, and a clear administrative services credential.

 

Before my assignment at PSD as an AP, I taught Math for seven years at AVHS, LACOE camp school, and LACHSA. I have worked in various capacities out of the classroom, including Math coach, PBL/RTSA Senior program specialist, LCAP, and Educational Data Coordinator.  I served as an AP for LACOE schools for five years before I joined PSD.

 

My education and experience with students for the past 19 years have shown me that students can succeed in school with support from home and school. I am looking forward to working with my colleagues at DGM and parents in making education meaningful for our students.

 

It is truly a privilege and honor to become a Trailblazer at David G. Millen!
