School Principal

Mrs. Misti Larrick is beginning her 23nd year as an educator in the Palmdale School District.  She has served as an assistant principal for the past 4 1/2 years and is honored and humbled to begin her role as principal at Tumbleweed Elementary School for the 2020-2021 school year.  She started her career in Palmdale School District in 1997 as a classroom teacher at Joshua Hills Elementary.  Mrs. Larrick was a general education classroom teacher for eleven years and then became an Instructional Coach/Learning Support Teacher.  She continued in that role for Palmdale School District for eight years.  As a Learning Support Teacher, she was able to work closely with adults in an effort to help teachers create highly effective professional learning communities, collaborate with them to plan great instructional practices, and become data-driven teams.  Mrs. Larrick also created and presented numerous professional development opportunities for teachers and staff District-wide in a variety of curriculum and leadership areas.  She understands the importance of building a strong collaborative and inclusive culture as an educational leader.  Mrs. Larrick’s goal is to inspire and support teachers to be their very best, and to create powerful leadership teams at the school site that will be intentional in their work and passionate about the vision, mission, and strategic goals within the Palmdale Promise.  Mrs. Larrick leads with passion and courage every day to do whatever it takes to serve the needs of all of the students and families in the Palmdale School District.
 
Mrs. Larrick earned a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership (2015) from California State University Dominguez Hills and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (1997) from Chapman University Orange, California.  Mrs. Larrick has lived in the Antelope Valley for 49 years and currently resides in Quartz Hill with her husband, Brian, and son, Brock.  She enjoys traveling with her family to different cities within the United States and attending professional sporting events in each city.  She also enjoys cooking, baking, and camping at the beaches and mountains of California.
